Pardon the Fluff

I’m sure you’ve noticed there’s not a whole lot of crafting going on ’round this here blog. Mainly that is because I am up to my elbows in brine, sauce, berries and good ol’ Lancaster County dirt. Growing, harvesting and “putting up” your own food flutters on the edge of being a full time job. Then toss in a 9-5, house & yard chores along with working Saturday mornings’ Farmer’s Market and frankly, I’m surprised I’ve posted anything over the past few months!

I have done some crafting, modest as it may be. In July I made a skirt for my cousin’s daughter in trade for gettin’ my hairs cut. Please ignore the model’s nakedness, I keep forgetting to pick up some toddler tops to cover the creepy plastic dress form! I don’t make children’s clothing enough to keep it in the forefront of my mind…until picture time that is!

I’m still spending a good amount of time behind my camera. My 365 challenge will come to a close the beginning of October. Honestly, I can’t wait! It’s been fun for the most part, but I’m so over that project now.

Below are a few pictures I pulled from my One Green Tomato and Literal Light blogs to show you what I’ve been up to. Cause I know you think I’m really just kickin’ back, eatin’ bon-bons and being fanned by gorgeous Greek gods and all.

My sunflowers have reached an astonishing height of 14 feet this year! Told ya I got good dirt!
My beans have started coming in; the constant canning has begun!
Plum Pickin’ = Plum Jam, Plum Chutney, Plum Conserves
I grow corn, it is red.
I chase butterflies, constantly!
Saturday Morning Market
Curing Onions

If you are interested in keeping up with my photography, gardening and kitchen adventures then may I suggest you head on over to One Green Tomato and Literal Light and sign up to follow me…because followers rock and then I’m not just rambling on about nothing to myself! 😉

Underdeveloped & Overexposed

Well, I’ve gone and done it again. I started yet another blog. This is the last one though, promise. Groups of three make me happy and since I have three interests that I am very passionate about, I thought it was only fair to give each one their own shining spotlight. Plus I’m slightly neurotic when it comes to certain things but we won’t get into that here. 🙂

The new blog can be found here. Some of the photographs waiting in the que have already been posted here or on OneGreenTomato. But fear not friends, my Nikon is permanently attached to my face so I have lots of new ones going up too!

If you use google reader or bloglines, the official web address is http://www.literallight.blogspot.com/.

Bison, Birds and a Long Holiday Weekend

I got a new telephoto lens for the Nikon yesterday. It’s one step down from the one I REALLY want but I can’t responsibly justify spending twice my investment, especially since I recently had a bit of work done to my car and have a few road trip planned for the upcoming summer months. One of which involves a bit of splurging and a lot of drooling in this fabulous fabric haven.
I’m heading west this weekend to where the bison roam free, kind of. I’ll be sure to have my camera, attached to my face, and share my adventure with you once I return! Happy Extended Weekend All!!!

Yesterday’s Challenge

As I’ve mentioned before I’m participating in a 365 Photo Challenge with a few friends. Each morning I wake up and begin pondering the days lighting situation. I was happy to notice yesterday that at 5:45 p.m. the sun had yet to completely set! Woo Hoo Spring is on the way!!

After work I ventured into the grave yard across the street. For days I had been driving past what I saw as a daily photo challenge opportunity only to either A. not have my camera with me or B. the weather sucked and I was not getting out of the car to go trekking through the graveyard so I’ll photograph something at home. Today the heavens smiled upon me and presented a completely different composition, but a picture none the less. After 3 Photoshop adjustments, here is yesterday’s picture.

The 4 O’clock Train

The 4 O’clock train is a regular occurrence, sometimes annoyance, in my commute to and from the office. If I am positioned at just the right angle on the hill, I can look through the underpass and see if it is occupying the tracks, then plan my route accordingly. Usually, the times I get stuck waiting happen to coincide with the days I’m not equip with my camera. Finally, the cosmos aliened!

Being someone who is typically found with camera in tow, it only seemed appropriate to accept an invitation to participate in a 365 day photo challenge. You can check out my progress and photos here.

My Two New Loves

I may have already mentioned it, I know I did in my other blog, but there is a new love in my life. She is sharp, focused and always ready for action. Who am I talking about you ask?
My new Nikon. I. Love. Her. And yes, it’s a she, as most inanimate objects are. My next investment will be a fish eye lens, that is when I happen to have an extra grand lying around. haha Clearly that is not in my immediate future!
We, the Nikon and I, usually get together for early Saturday morning photo dates. Last Sat was no exception and as an added bonus it was foggy. Here is a bit of what we saw.

As soon as they are watermarked I will add them to my photo blog.
I’ve also had another new love enter my life and this one happens to purr like a kitten!
I’ve added a Janome to my growing collection of machines, which now totals four. If only I had the time to put her to good use!

Spreading Myself Thin…

or am I maximizing my exposure?? That seems to be the question weighing on my mind as of late. My girlfriends are always on my case about not seeing them enough, or always being so busy to the point of exhaustion. They often ask why I do this to myself? Well the answer is, despite all the work and effort, I truly love it! I am very passionate about a lot of things. The way I see it if you are going to do something be intense about it, don’t half ass your interests! I love sewing and creating, so I started my own business. I love to garden, so I grow most of my own food. As long as I can remember I’ve been fascinated with photography. Now that I’ve finally upgraded to my *oh so fabulous* Nikon, I’ve decided to create another blog for those images, as well as sort of an online portfolio for my fiber creations. I figure the more avenues available for people to find and see my work the more it will pay off in the end.

My newest online commitment/obsession, Tumblr. It’s simple to the point blogging!

So stop by and let me know what you think!
