Brace Yourself, I’ve Got Crafting Content to Share…kinda

I FINALLY added my hand painted hemp napkins to my etsy shop, and it only took me about 11 months to accomplish this amazing feat!! Truth be told I am offering them as a custom, so technically all I really did was take pictures of the set I made for myself last year. Why it took me almost a year to figure out to do it this way is beyond me!

Attention Space Junkies & the Like

Just thought you may want to know that the Orionids are tonight. Chances are if you are into the cosmos you already are aware of this but I just wanted to send out an APB in case you forgot! The moon will be approximately 7% full so viewing is optimal. Unless you have lots of light pollution where you live, then it sucks to be you! Venture outside anytime from about 1am to 6am and you should see a heavenly celestial show! I can’t wait seeing as how I missed the Leonids due to considerable cloud coverage!!!
*****UPDATE*****
Despite patchy cloud coverage I was able to witness a most excellent cosmic show! Within the first 30 seconds I saw 3 meteors shoot across the sky!

Making a Difference

Yesterday was the annual American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Harrisburg, Pa. This year I set my personal goal at a modest $100. Let’s face it times are tough for a lot of people, myself included! People don’t have extra disposable income, even if it’s donating to a charity, which is tax deductible and a great selfless act! Ben Bernanke wants to toot his horn stating the recession is over, that is not the case where I live. Clearly it just sounds like someone wants a pat on the back for a job well done and I would have to disagree! Lancaster was one of the last places to be affected by the recession and most likely we will be one of the last ones out. I live in a very conservative area, I mean VERY CONSERVATIVE! The small business where I am employed has cut it’s workforce down to 3 people. Even the owner’s wife was laid off. Thankfully I am an *essential worker* and I have job security…for the meantime anyway!

Anywho sorry for the ramble and back to the point of my post. I was able to double my goal and collect over $200, YAY! I’m not sure what our team’s total was since we opted to not get pneumonia and forfeit the walk. It had been in the low 40’s and raining for days and we were not about to walk around outside for several hours no matter how great the cause. My donations along with the rest of the teams will be mailed in so all is not lost. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who was able to spare those extra bucks and help out the American Cancer Society!
Donations are accepted year round so if anyone out there would like to help, I have a bag available on the website where 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. The link is HERE.

Oh Joy!

I Won, I Won, I Won, I WON! Can you tell I’m excited? This is not just regular excitement, this is bursting at the seams (pun intended) excitement. Like waking up and realizing there is no school because of a snow laden world excited. Yea, I’m that excited. What has me in such a frenzied state you ask? The lovely and oh so talented Yasmine, of A Print A Day, has selected me as the winner of her mushroom fabric & terrarium print give a away! Anyone who knows me, even if only through cyber space, knows I have a serious THING for mushrooms! Talk about an awesome belated birthday gift!!!

I’ve decided to hoard the fabric and keep it all for myself. 🙂 All morning I’ve been running through a list of craftables in my head. I am leaning towards making a new kitchen apron or maybe a tote bag. Since it is such a large print I don’t want to cut it up too much, which kind of eliminates making it into clothing, although I could incorporate it into a skirt. I’m sure once I receive it I’ll know what to do!

Another Year Young

Last Sunday was my birthday. Of course a lady never reveals her true age, but I guess it’s OK to give you a hint. 🙂

My Two New Loves

I may have already mentioned it, I know I did in my other blog, but there is a new love in my life. She is sharp, focused and always ready for action. Who am I talking about you ask?
My new Nikon. I. Love. Her. And yes, it’s a she, as most inanimate objects are. My next investment will be a fish eye lens, that is when I happen to have an extra grand lying around. haha Clearly that is not in my immediate future!
We, the Nikon and I, usually get together for early Saturday morning photo dates. Last Sat was no exception and as an added bonus it was foggy. Here is a bit of what we saw.

As soon as they are watermarked I will add them to my photo blog.
I’ve also had another new love enter my life and this one happens to purr like a kitten!
I’ve added a Janome to my growing collection of machines, which now totals four. If only I had the time to put her to good use!
