What’s Up Doc

I’ve been MIA for a while, a few weeks actually. I haven’t been able to sit or stand for long periods of time…aka not much sewing going on or computer stuff. I’m not one to complain about a little pain and fortunately my threshold is quite high. I’ve fallen asleep getting tattoos if that gives you an indication of what I am talking about. Well it finally got to the point where I went to the doctor, not a pill pusher but a bone cracker. Pills are a quick fix and only mask the real problem, which in my case it my sciatic nerve. I am not one to take unnecessary medicine. If I get a headache I don’t take Advil, I drink water since most headaches are a sign of dehydration. I am not against modern medicine in any way, but I do seek out alternative options when available. It seems like most doctors will just write you out a prescription, getting a phatty kick back from the pharmaceutical companies no doubt, and send you on your way. But if I had to constantly deal with self diagnosing hypochondriacs on a daily basis I’d probably do the same!

My sciatic nerve has been bothering me for the past few years, mainly during long road trips. Over the last 6 months it has been getting worse and most recently it has been unbearable! So I finally went to a chiropractor this morning. My step dad goes every few weeks and swears by it and so does Jason. In fact both Jason’s rugby coaches at IUP were chiropractors. Once on a visit to Indiana, Dr Rob offered to crack me after Jas, I politely declined. I don’t like the sound a body makes when it is being twisted and contorted. I sucked it up today and went and I must say I got past the sound real quick! After only one visit I am in less pain. I go back next week for another adjustment and I can’t wait. I am so out of alignment you should have heard me. I still have a headache but I contribute that to my trip to the eye doctor this morning. I haven’t been there in 4 years…oops! He was shining bright lights in my eyes during the exam and it sucked big time!! My eyes are very sensitive to light. The doctor did not give me a new prescription for my glasses but I still have to squint to read at a distance so I am not sure what gives??
